Three 48″ Ranges Compared: Viking, Capital and Bertazzoni

The cooking range is the center of the kitchen, where all the cooking gets done, where handfuls of raw ingredients transform into delectable dishes enjoyed by family and friends. While some may opt for a standard 30” range with four burners and one oven, others may find this doesn’t quite meet their needs in the kitchen.

A 48 inch gas range offers additional cooking capacity as well as a greater variety of cooking options. You can have your standard four burners, plus a 12” griddle and 12” grill, or you can opt for six burners and either a griddle or grill. You can even get 8 burners across your cooktop surface! You also get two ovens with a 48” range – one large enough for your Thanksgiving turkey and another smaller one for sides. If this is the type of cooking capacity you seek, a 48” stove is the perfect choice.

As you embark on the search for the best 48” range, we at Elite Appliance are proud to share a little about three of our best-selling 48” ranges: the Viking VGCC5486GSS, the Capital GCR486GN, and the Bertazzoni X486GGGVX.

Viking 48” Range (VGCC5486GSS)

48 Inch Viking Range

With the Viking 48” gas stove, you get six powerful burners that heat from a low simmer up to 15,000 BTUs. One of the six features TruPowerPlus and heats up to 18,500 BTUs. (One BTU heats one pound of water by about 1°F). The cooktop also features a 12” griddle perfect for Saturday morning pancakes. The oven performs a variety of functions from convection bade to infrared broil and even convection dehydrate and defrost. Viking’s Convection Air Baffle fan ensures even heat distribution throughout the oven. The larger 4 cubic foot oven accommodates large entrees, while the smaller 2.1 cubic foot oven is perfect for side dishes.

Capital 48” Range (GCR486GN)

48 Inch Capital Range

Capital’s 48” gas range also comes with six sealed burners and a 12” stainless steel grill or griddle. The burners start at a low, even simmer and reach up to 19,000 BTUs, and the griddle heats up to 18,000 BTUs. The larger oven on the Capital range offers a little more room than the Viking – 4.6 cubic feet, while the smaller oven is identical in space – 2.1 cubic feet. Like Viking, Capital has an automatic re-ignition system in case a flame flickers out while you’re cooking.

Bertazzoni 48” Range (X486GGGVX)

48 Inch Bertazzoni Range

The Bertazzoni range matches the other two with its sleek stainless steel exterior, but it offers its own unique European look, most notable on the unique, stylized knobs and the recognizable round emblem below the oven window. The Bertazzoni 48” range comes with six burners, a 12” griddle, a 2.9 cubic foot oven and a 1.8 cubic foot oven. The somewhat smaller ovens leave room for a storage drawer. The six burners together offer up to 50,000 BTUs of power, and the Professional Series gas oven excels at convection cooking, broiling, defrosting and dehydrating.
