Bosch Dishwasher Review Roundup

We’re the type of people who think of major purchases like cars and large appliances as investments. We research them carefully before buying, and once we take the plunge, we do so with the idea we’re in it for the long haul.

Bosch 300 front control excels at everything we have thrown at it and we couldn’t be happier with our upgrade. But…SPECS for this item on the Lowe’s website say that both the fill hose and drain hose are included, so we did not purchase these items separately. Well, either they were not delivered with the DW or the specs page is wrong, so my husband had to make a 2 hr round trip to Lowe’s on New Year’s Day to purchase this assembly kit to finish the install.

Trying to buy a dishwasher during the Covid pandemic was an exercise in frustration and patience. We ultimately decided to purchase this Bosch 300 Series Dishwasher because of our past (wonderful) experience with Bosch appliances in our home (cooktop, convection oven). What we like about this dishwasher is that the interior is stainless steel, not plastic like many other brands. It’s super quiet! The electrical cord connection features a proprietary plug-and-play module connection, so no wiring necessary. It even comes with the electrical cord with the module, although the Home Depot associate told us otherwise and added a cord to our order.

KitchenAid Dishwasher

KitchenAid Dishwasher Review Roundup

I’ve owned many dishwashers over the years and I thought Bosch was the best of the best. After my last dishwasher was damaged (thanks to my new puppy!), I tried to order another Bosch but COVID created challenges with inventory. I found this gorgeous KitchenAid dishwasher and felt confident it would be a great replacement. Well, I couldn’t be happier!! It is absolutely gorgeous, has plenty of room inside, is the quietest dishwasher I’ve owned to date, has multiple wash cycles to choose from, and 2 wonderful drying options. Plus, like my previous Bosch, has a terrific 3rd drawer that is so spacious and convenient. This dishwasher is a great quality too. Love the way the drawers roll out and the tines fold down if needed. Time will only tell if it has lasting power but I plan to also purchase a matching refrigerator and oven soon because I LOVE the look of KitchenAid appliances.

Our old dishwasher died and we spent a lot of time researching different options and reading tons of reviews. Admittedly, there were some other dishwashers that also had good reviews and seemed very popular. However, when we went out “live” shopping and compared the features, the KitchenAid clearly won out. While the “quiet factor” is nice, the biggest and nicest feature for us, and the primary reason we selected this particular dishwasher was the inside design. We never saw any other dishwasher that had this much room with this great of a design. We now constantly use the third rack, and with the separate washing arm. The dishes (we always put our bowls up there) get extremely clean. It has only been a month, but we love the dishwasher and have no regrets on purchasing it.

My dishes always come out clean every time and I do not rinse everything before putting them in! They dry pretty well! I love the 3rd rack and wash all my sharp knives, a large fry pan and some serving utensils on it. They also come out very clean. Glad I bought this dishwasher!

How are Bosch and KitchenAid dishwashers stacked Up Side By Side?

KitchenAid was the best brand of dishwasher for a long time before Bosch went on the market. The German brand quietly introduced dishwashers at a time when the noise of the dishwasher is a big problem. Bosch slowly passed KitchenAid in terms of reliability, cleaning and drying performance. In fact, our coveted list of the best dishwashers does not include KitchenAid dishwashers. That said, KitchenAid continues to measure by its remarkable properties, especially in the categories of washing, storage and filtration. The new KitchenAid dishwasher models also offer high strength and quiet operation, as well as powerful cleaning tools. Bosch dishwasher selection Bosch dishwashers have a top selection Bosch dishwashers have five separate classes for richness.

Regular Bosch & KitchenAid Models

There are regular models of the 100 series with plastic base tray, the 300 series with stainless steel interior and ADA/18″ variants, and the 500 series with innovative design and automatic air drying that opens the door. The 800 series and reference series feature first-class dishwasher features, including Wi-Fi connectivity, water softener, crystal clear drying, reduced silence and custom finishes. Overall, KitchenAid and Bosch are excellent and reliable dishwasher brands that have similar quality. Its similarities extend throughout cycles, stainless steel interior and frame adjustment. The differences between the two brands lie in style, reliability, price and washing and drying performance.

Loud Volume? The Quietness Factor In Evaluating

Peace between Bosch and KitchenAid The search for the quietest dishwasher is an important factor for most people. You don’t want to have a dishwasher that bothers you sleep if you can choose a quieter option. Bosch produces the quietest dishwashers on the US market. Most Bosch dishwashers are shifted around 38 dB and 44 dB. Silent Dishwasher All new KitchenAid dishwashers have a noise level equal to or less than 46 dB, which is as quiet as a library. But KitchenAid was not always known for its quiet dishwashers. Only when Bosch arrived on the market with silent dishwashers KitchenAid considered getting rid of its noisy hard feed mill. On the contrary, all Bosch dishwashers have a noise level below 48 dB, which is less noisy than average computer keystrokes. Bosch dishwashers are so quiet that they emit a light projected on the floor to indicate that they are working. Bosch produces the quietest dishwashers on the market.

Extremely Quiet Dishwashers

The company has a wide range of extremely quiet dishwashers. The quietest dishwashers of the two brands include the Bosch SHXM88Z75N reference point at 40 dB, the KitchenAid KDTE334GPS at 39 dB and the Bosch SHE89PW75N 800 series at 38 dB. Do they clean up well? Both KitchenAid and Bosch score quite high in the washing category. They have similar and impressive washing cycles or options that ensure that dishes are spotless clean after washing. The strength of KitchenAid lies in its high load capacity and filter system. With the average KitchenAid dishwasher, you can wash up to 15 full seats on a single charge. It has room for more dishes than the average family can use in one day. For effective filtration, KitchenAid uses a triple filter system that includes an ultra-thin filter to remove dirt particles from the wash water. While KitchenAid’s filtration system is very remarkable, the Bosch water softener puts it on par with KitchenAid in the washing category. Here is a brief online guide to understanding the range of dishwasher volume levels.

A Look At The Water Softener

This is an important feature that not only ensures better washing (when using hard water), but also prolongs the life of the dishwasher. In addition, Bosch dishwashers have two full-size washing arms, an upper nozzle that runs the third rack and a sound filtration system. Both KitchenAid dishwashers and Bosch dishwashers have excellent cleaning performance. If you live in a hard water area, consider Bosch with a water softener over KitchenAid. If we want to skip their almost similar wash cycles and performance, we have to give KitchenAid an advantage. Its function of bottle washing for sports and bottles is also quite thoughtful and innovative. However, we recommend that you wear a rinse aid to compensate for the lack of water softener. Dry Performance Bosch easily outperforms KitchenAid in this category thanks to its two new drying options: AutoAir Dry and CrystalDry. The high drying performance of the KitchenAid KitchenAid filter is due to the ProDry system and the optional extended ProDry. The Fan-compatible ProDry system uses a built-in heating element that absorbs moisture from the dishes and also disinfects it. This represents a noticeable improvement in the drying method of the inside of the stainless steel condenser.

Limitations of ProDry Drying System

However, the ProDry did not grow with the Bosch Zeolite-based CrystalDry system. The CrystalDry option raises the dishwasher temperature to 176°F for optimal drying without additional energy consumption. AutoAir Dry automatically opens the dishwasher after cleaning it to let in fresh air and improve drying. Bosch offers 3 different drying options. As the price increases, the drying performance increases from good to the best class. While KitchenAid has better drying performance than some of the popular dishwasher brands, Bosch is still the best in the industry.

Reviewing Washing Cycle Options

Bosch and KitchenAid have very similar cycles and washing options. High-end kitchenaid dishwasher models such as GPS KTDE334 feature normal, light, rugged cycles, ProWash, Express Wash, Rinse Only, ProDry and ProDry. Washing options also include heat drying, sani rinse, bottle washing, high temperature washing, top rack only, and 1-24 hour delay. Dishwasher Menu For the Bosch 800 series, cycles include normal, automatic, ecological, heavy, rinse-only and speed60 cycles, as shown in the SHXM88Z75N. Washing options include CrystalDry, Eco, Delay, Half Load, Delicate and Sanitize. These are very similar in performance to those of the KitchenAid KTDE334GPS GPS. Both brands have a comparable range of cycles and options.

Dishwasher Reliability

In terms of reliability, we tested how many complaints users make for each individual brand and how long it takes the average dishwasher user to repair a new dishwasher. In general, Bosch dishwashers are more reliable than KitchenAid dishwashers. However, this does not mean that a Bosch dishwasher does not need repairs or creates problems for you. Design styles available In addition to functionality, dishwasher design is one of the most important factors to consider, especially when choosing aesthetics versus performance. Let’s see how Bosch and KitchenAid compete under these rubrics. Door design options Bosch dishwashers come in 5 main door design options: • Recessed handle: The dishwasher has a visible control panel with entry handle. • Bag handle: The control panel is hidden to create a clean profile; the door has an access handle. • Handlebar grip: The panel Control is also hidden but the handle is towel rail style. • Spade handle: hidden controls with elegant access handle. • Custom panel: The door can accommodate custom cabinet panels for a seamless kitchen finish. The controls are also hidden.

KitchenAid Dishwashers: 4 Similar Front Door Options

Concealed top controls and towel rail handle • Concealed top controls and bag handle • Panel-ready designs (making models like the KDTM504EPA highly desirable) • Glass Window Door Auxiliary Kitchen Styles 2-1 Panel Panel Ready Cabinets Dishwasher Category is perhaps where Bosch completely outperforms KitchenAid. KitchenAid dishwashers have a big drawback. No model really measures 24 inches (the depth of the standard kitchen cabinet). They measure 24 ¾ inches deep or 24 1/2 inches deep, even without regard to the handle. That’s why most kitchen designers prefer fully rinsed Bosch dishwashers for a perfect kitchen design. Bosch dishwashers fit perfectly into your cabinets. You have plenty of options if you want the front of the dishwasher to match the cabinets in your kitchen. Unlike KitchenAid, Bosch also has several panel dishwashers, such as the SGV68U53UC, for all prices only with the KDTM504EPA. If you really want a custom kitchen finish, you’re more likely to do it with Bosch than KitchenAid.

Smaller & Portable Dishwasher Models

Unlike KitchenAid, Bosch manufactures 18-inch dishwashers like the 800 series SPX68U55UC for small houses and other kitchen uses. This also works well for those who may want to have a dishwasher for a secondary kitchen by the pool or bar. Bosch also manufactures dishwashers that are considered suitable for raised floors and shorter countertop heights. The ADA dishwashers have a reduced height (32 inches vs 33 or 34 inches). Controls and buttons should also be easily accessible with one arm. KitchenAid does not have an ADA compatible dishwasher. A complete guide to Portable dishwasher purchases is available on our website.

Dishwasher Interior design

In interior design, the similarity between the two brands ends in the stainless steel interior and also in the third rack, present in most models. The stainless steel interior helps to improve drying (due to condensation) than the inside of the plastic trays of previous models of dishwashers. Let’s look at the differences between KitchenAid and Bosch in interior design: High-end lights of Bosch dishwashers have interior lights to illuminate the interior of the machine. There is also the InfoLight that projects on the floor to show that the dishwasher works. KitchenAid dishwashers do not have interior lights or InfoLight function. 3rd rack While KitchenAid and Bosch have a third rack on most major models, Bosch makes the additional rack function more exciting thanks to the MyWay rack function. The special application is ideal for cereal bowls, ladles, molds and much more. This function increases the flexibility of the third rack and is reserved for high-quality Bosch dishwasher models. Bosch also retains a nozzle on the top for cleaning third frame items. Options of 3 racks dishwasher Adjusting shelves and picks The settings of the racks can not matter much to you until you have to wash a large pot and find out that it does not fit in the dishwasher. Here you will appreciate a dishwasher with a flexible rack system.

Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch dishwashers have an adjustable shelf system that can be used to easily store large pots and bowls. High-end kitchenaid dishwashers have shelves that can also be adjusted but are not as flexible as Bosch. For picks, KitchenAid dishwashers have a compact tip arrangement that allows you to fit into a larger number of dishes than Bosch dishwashers. This is also partly responsible for their high resilience. Both Bosch and KitchenAid (high-end) dishwashers also have an adjustable tip system that makes it easy to place unpleasant items on shelves. Connectivity and Smart Features This is another category that clearly distinguishes Bosch from KitchenAid as a dishwasher brand. Notably, at this time KitchenAid does not have a dishwasher model with smart or connectivity features.

The connectivity of KitchenAid appliances is limited to your ovens and nobs. Some high-end dishwashers (800 series and reference) from Bosch are equipped with connectivity function. You have the voice control option and you have connected to the Bosch HomeConnect app. The HomeConnect app is one of the best and most responsive connectivity applications in the home appliance industry. Prices Both Bosch and KitchenAid have a dishwasher for all price points and levels. Bosch has a better distribution of the dishwasher (by price) thanks to its five series: the 100, 300, 500, 800 and the reference series. Each top level has additional features (both in design and functionality) that have been added to the models in the series. You can choose whether you want to receive a 100 or 800 series dishwasher according to your budget. If you want the best dishwashing experience, you should opt for the Bosch reference series. KitchenAid is a premium dishwasher brand, so you should expect good dishwashers accompanying the escalated prices (around $1000).
