Jenn-Air offers several cooktops with built-in downdraft vents. These discreet downdraft vents work to eliminate smoke and cooking odors at their source, just as they rise from the cooktop surface. Now the brand offers a new downdraft system, the Jenn-Air Accolade downdraft vent. The new Jenn-Air JXD7836BS offers a combination of exquisite style and remarkable functionality.
The unit sits unassumingly behind an existing cooktop within a stainless steel setting, and only when needed, the Jenn-Air telescopic downdraft rises from beneath the countertop and draws steam and scents rising from the cooktop into its curved vent.
The unit is constructed from glass and stainless steel for a modern yet subtle appearance, and ambient LED light from the translucent glass softly illuminates the cooking surface when the ventilation system is in use. In order to maintain the elegance of the design, the controls are hidden. However, they remain conveniently in reach.
When summoned from beneath the countertop, the unique Jenn-Air downdraft vent rises a full 19 inches above the counter surface in order to absorb odors from the shallowest to the deepest cookware.
The powerful ventilation unit offers four fan speeds, so you can adjust it to the amount or potency of the food on your stovetop.
The Jenn-Air ventilation system also has a few automatic features to make your life just a little easier. First, a timed setting allows you to continue running the ventilation unit after you’ve left the kitchen without fear you’ll forget and leave it on all night. Second, the blower has an automatic shut-off that kicks in when the unit retracts back into the countertop, so you can feel confident the blower is never running unnecessarily while the vent is trapped beneath the counter. The unit also has an indicator light that lets you know when the filter needs cleaning.
When the light indicates it’s time for cleaning, there’s no need to grumble. Simply remove the aluminum, mesh filters from the stainless steel frame, and put them in the dishwasher. Keeping the filters clean also helps protect the ductwork.
From use to maintenance, Jenn-Air has created a seamless system that is both effective and easy to use.
This Jenn-Air requires an external blower, model number UXI1200DYS (sold separately). The blower runs at an astounding 1,200 CFMs, meaning 1,200 cubic feet of air per minute is displaced by the fan blades.
