The High-End French Door Oven Trend

high-end-french-door-ovensSince the invention of the oven, there’s been many new features and innovations made to continue providing home chefs with the most powerful and precise oven possible. While the technology is ever-changing, the quintessential oven exterior for residential units has remained relatively unchanged. Lately though, we’ve began seeing a rising design trend translate over from commercial ovens: easily-accessible French Doors.

French doors are already popular for appliances such as refrigerators due to their ability to offer full-width storage, convenient eye level to the pantry, and easy-to-maneuver doors. Several manufacturers, including GE, Monogram, and Viking, have begun implementing this design for ovens, providing the same benefits as commercial-grade ovens do for the new residential French door ovens.

GE-french-door-oven-2GE Café Series CT9070SHSS

One of the most affordable French door ovens on the market comes from one of America’s favorite companies, GE. This 30” built-in single convection oven has a 5.0 Cu. Ft. capacity, and true European convection that blows direct air from the top of the oven to bake your food more quickly and evenly.

The French doors are engineered to allow for one-handed opening of the doors at the same time, and the electronic dial controls and glass touch screen allow users to control the oven’s 7 baking functions (Convection Bake, Convection Bake Multi-Rack, Convection Broil, Convection Roast, Crisp Broil, Thermal Bake, and Thermal Broil).

The GE CT9070SHSS is also a self-cleaning oven with a steam cleaning option. The 3 heavy-duty racks are durable enough to withstand the self-cleaning cycle, unlike many other self-cleaning ovens. Wifi connection capabilities works with Amazon’s Alexa to operate your oven hands free.

As General Electric’s luxury brand of pro-style appliances, Monogram also introduced a French door oven into the marketplace. Very similar to its GE counterpart, the ZET1FHSS has all the same features and dimensions with a few added luxuries.

The electronic control knobs are backlit when turned on, and 2 theater-style LED light columns allow you to keep a watchful eye on your meal. Wifi-enabled, you can control your oven from your smart phone, and set a delay clean option to automatically start at a pre-set time.

Viking 7 Series VSOF730 and VDOF730

Constantly at the forefront of innovating professional appliances for the residential home, Viking introduced two different French door oven models – a single oven model, as well as a double oven model.

VDOF-viking-french-door-ovenThe Viking 7 series ovens are 30” convection ovens with 4.7 cu. Ft. capacity. Featuring the largest convection fan blade in the industry, these French door ovens have a 2-speed convection system that turns the fan both ways for quick roasting and baking. The extra-large GourmetGlo Infrared broiler sears and locks in moisture for even the thickest cuts of meats, and the Rapid Ready Preheat system allows the oven to heat up in record time so you don’t have to wait around.

viking-VSOF-french-door-ovenTopped with the 11 baking functions (two-element bake, convection bake, TruConvec Convection Cook, convection roast, convection broil, hi broil, medium broil, low broil, convection dehydrate, convection defrost, and proof), the Viking French door oven can do it all.

The VSOF730 is the single oven unit, while the VDOF730 is the double oven unit coupled with a bottom chef’s door oven. This oven also comes in six additional finishes other than Stainless Steel (black, white, apple red, graphite gray, cobalt blue, and burgundy).
